I came across these eyeglasses from the twitter account of @Snowden. It was first tweeted by Mikko Hypponen here…

twitter.com…

As one who takes my privacy seriously, I investigated into the concept. Apparently, these glasses reflect both visible light and infrared light, which means that surveillance cameras and facial recognition will not be able to identify faces. I reached out to the guy who is making them and it seems that they will not likely work for these purposes during daylight as security cameras only emit their IR leds in low light situations. Either way, it is an interesting idea and I think a lot of people will be interested in them for privacy purposes. They certainly started a conversation on twitter in the past couple days.
